Curtain Up: “Almost, Maine” Under the Northern Lights
The month kicks off with a touch of romance and northern charm. The RLHS Drama Class presents “Almost, Maine,” a dreamy romantic comedy set in a mythical town where residents find themselves falling in and out of love under the Northern Lights.
Staged at the COA Pavilion (The former base movie theater at McClellan Park), the production promises a mix of love, loss, and laughter. For those looking to support local arts, this 120-minute journey offers a high-quality theater experience right in our backyard.

Engines for a Cause: Veterans and Classic Showdowns
May is a massive month for Rio Linda’s automotive and motorcycle culture. The American Legion Riders Post 521 has rescheduled its 15th Annual Lloyd Watson & Chris Memorial Ride for May 2nd. Benefitting local veterans, the “High Hand/Low Hand” run includes breakfast, a tri-tip lunch, and a major raffle.
The momentum continues on May 9th at The Rio Pub with the Classic Showdown. This event welcomes lowriders, old schools, classic cars, trucks, and bikes.

Neighborly Hands: Stamp Out Hunger and Free Resources
Amidst the festivities, the community is focusing on essential support services. On the Second Saturday in May, residents are encouraged to participate in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Simply leave a bag of non-perishable goods by your mailbox for your letter carrier to collect.
Additionally, God’s Little Lambs Free Store will hold its “Super Saturday” on the 2nd Saturday of the month at New Beginnings Fellowship Church, providing free clothes, formula, and diapers for families with children.
