There’s still time to get tickets for a fundraiser supporting young men and women beginning their military service — but with the event happening this Saturday, Sept. 12, time is running short.
Bluebirds Take Flight will host its 4th Annual Fundraiser Dinner and Raffle from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the North Highlands Recreation and Park District Community Center, 6040 Watt Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The homemade lasagna dinner raises money to support newly enlisted military members and their families, including providing holiday meals for service members away from their families, holiday treat boxes and deployment boxes throughout the year.
Organizers currently have discounted tickets available for community supporters, along with a limited number of donated tickets for veterans, active-duty military members and reservists. Those interested in a donated military ticket need to contact Bluebirds Take Flight in advance, and organizers emphasize that only a limited number are available.
With Saturday approaching, anyone interested is encouraged to contact the organization and reserve a ticket now.

Dinner, Raffle and Silent Auction
Regular meal tickets are $50 per person and include homemade lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert, tea, coffee and water. Chicken is also available by request.
The evening will also feature a raffle and silent auction, with raffle and drink tickets sold at the event.
For groups or businesses looking to provide additional support, a limited number of exclusive sponsored tables are available for $550. Each includes eight meal tickets, a shareable appetizer, two bottles of wine, a private server and upgraded table settings. Only six sponsored tables are being offered.
The organization is also still seeking raffle donations for Saturday’s fundraiser.
Helping Military Families From the Beginning
Bluebirds Take Flight provides education, guidance and support to families from all branches of the military, with a particular emphasis on future recruits and newly enlisted service members going through training.
Entering military service can be a major adjustment not only for the recruit but also for parents, spouses, relatives and friends trying to understand an unfamiliar military system.
Bluebirds Take Flight works to help families navigate that transition and build a strong support system around their new service member.
The organization continues providing support throughout training and after young military members move into the next stage of their service. Fundraisers such as Saturday’s dinner help finance the care packages, holiday meals and other efforts designed to remind service members away from home that their communities haven’t forgotten them.
Tickets Available Now
