Rio Linda and Elverta voters don’t have to wait until Tuesday, Nov. 3, to cast their ballots. Mail ballots can be returned now, and Sacramento County will open its first 19 vote centers Saturday, Oct. 24.

At any open vote center, Sacramento County residents can register to vote, request a replacement ballot, vote in person or use an accessible ballot-marking device. Opening dates and hours vary, so check the county’s official locations and hours before making the trip.

Returning your mail ballot

Voters can return completed ballots at an official ballot drop box. The Rio Linda dropbox location is at the Rio Linda Library, 6724 Sixth St., among the Sac County drop box locations. Check the current drop box directory for availability and hours before heading out.

Ballots can also be mailed using the postage-paid return envelope included with the ballot. To count, mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received by the county elections office by Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Before returning your ballot, make sure you sign the return envelope. County elections officials encourage voters to mail ballots early to avoid potential delivery delays.

Another option if you’re heading downtown

County elections staff will accept completed ballots at the Downtown Sacramento Partnership’s Movies Under the Stars events on Thursdays and Fridays through the end of October. Voters dropping off ballots can also pick up an event-specific “I Voted” sticker.

For voting information or assistance, visit Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections, call 916-875-6451, or use the toll-free voter assistance line at 800-762-8019, which can connect voters with disabilities to TTY services.
