Rio Linda residents are invited to walk, run or “wobble” for a good cause when the inaugural Great Gobble Run comes to town Saturday, Nov. 21.
The 5K charity fun run will begin and end at the Rio Linda Community Center, 810 Oak Lane. Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m., with the run beginning at 9 a.m.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Rio Linda-Elverta Food Closet, helping the organization provide food and assistance to local families.
Organizers are encouraging runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to participate. The course will travel south from the Community Center along the Northern Sacramento Bike Trail, cross Elkhorn Boulevard at the designated crosswalk and continue to a turnaround point just beyond Bell Acqua Lakes before returning along the same route.
Local sponsors sought
Businesses and community members can also support the event through several sponsorship levels:
- Grand Gobbler — $500: Includes two race entries and T-shirts, prominent logo placement, a large event banner, promotional recognition and social-media coverage.
- Proud Strutter — $300: Includes medium-sized logo placement, an event banner and promotional recognition.
- Flock Member — $100: Includes the sponsor’s business name on the race shirt and social-media recognition.
- Trailblazer — $50: Places a business-provided sign along the course. Twelve spaces are available.
The deadline to become a sponsor is Oct. 1. The Rio Linda-Elverta Chamber of Commerce is serving as the event’s fiscal sponsor. Sponsorship inquiries may be sent to [email protected].
Current event supporters include the Rio Linda-Elverta Chamber of Commerce, Rio Linda-Elverta Recreation and Park District, Near You Pest Control, the Marysville and Elkhorn ampm, and Golden Rays Solar Cleaning.
