RIO LINDA, CA — Stacey Bastian has officially begun a new term representing Trustee Area 4 on the Twin Rivers Unified School District Board of Trustees following a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday evening.

The oath of office was administered by Angelique Ashby during a ceremony attended by family, friends, community members and district leaders.
Bastian, who represents Rio Linda, Elverta, North Highlands and portions of Sacramento County served by the Twin Rivers Unified School District, reflected on the significance of the evening and the responsibility that comes with serving one of Northern California’s largest school districts.
“Serving this community is one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Bastian said following the ceremony. “I am humbled, honored and excited for what lies ahead.”
She thanked Ashby for administering the oath and praised the senator’s commitment to public service and leadership.
The ceremony also marked a personal milestone for Bastian, whose children stood beside her as she took the oath of office. She described the moment as one she will always cherish, adding that her daughter, Paisley, happily smelling flowers during the ceremony served as a reminder that the work of public education is ultimately about creating opportunities for future generations.
Bastian also paid tribute to her parents, thanking her mother for her unwavering support and recalling the lessons her father instilled throughout her life.
“He taught me that leadership isn’t about titles,” Bastian said. “It’s about serving others with compassion, kindness, integrity and heart.”
Those values, she said, continue to shape every decision she makes as an elected trustee.
Continuing to Serve the Community
Bastian expressed appreciation to the residents of Rio Linda, Elverta, North Highlands and the broader Twin Rivers community for placing their trust in her.
She said collaboration between families, educators and the community remains the key to improving student success.
“We’ve accomplished so much, but I truly believe the best is yet to come,” she said. “When we collaborate, listen to one another and put students and families first, there is nothing we can’t achieve.”
She also recognized the work of Twin Rivers teachers, classified staff, administrators, school resource officers, volunteers and support personnel, thanking them for the dedication they bring to local schools every day.
Students Remain the Focus
Bastian said students continue to be the driving force behind her public service.
“You are my why,” she said. “You are the reason I continue to learn, to listen and to work every day to make our schools stronger.”
Her priorities for the coming term include continuing to support academic achievement, strengthening partnerships with families, improving school safety and ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed.
Looking Ahead
As one of the elected trustees overseeing Twin Rivers Unified, Bastian helps guide policy decisions affecting thousands of students across the district. The Board of Trustees is responsible for adopting district budgets, establishing educational policies, approving curriculum, overseeing facilities planning and hiring and evaluating the superintendent.
For families in Rio Linda and Elverta, Bastian’s continued service means the community will maintain local representation as the district addresses issues ranging from campus improvements and student achievement to enrollment, staffing and long-term financial planning.
Closing the evening, Bastian thanked everyone who supported her campaign and her continued service, saying their encouragement inspires her to keep working on behalf of local students and families.
“We have more work to do, more dreams to pursue and more lives to impact,” she said. “Thank you for believing in me. Let’s continue building a brighter future together.”
