The Rio Linda High School girls flag football team is back on the field, beginning a 2026 schedule that will take the Lady Knights through late October.
Rio Linda enters the new season after an impressive 2025 campaign. The Lady Knights finished 16-7 overall and 12-2 in the Golden Empire League, placing second in the league.
The team also reached the second round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs. Rio Linda defeated Roseville 22-14 in the opening round before falling to Del Campo 22-18 in the quarterfinals.
The Lady Knights also received some regional attention during that run. CBS Sacramento featured Rio Linda’s 18-13 victory over Natomas as part of its Friday Gameday girls flag football coverage.
The 2026 season has opened against difficult nonleague competition. MaxPreps reports Rio Linda lost 26-6 at Inderkum on Aug. 20 and fell 34-0 against Sheldon on Aug. 24.
The Lady Knights travel to Tracy on Wednesday, Aug. 26, before returning home Sept. 1 against Buhach Colony.
