RIO LINDA, CA — For local country music fans who have missed having a massive festival practically in our own backyard, it’s time to dust off the boots.
Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) and Visit Sacramento have officially announced that the GoldenSky Music Festival will return to Discovery Park in October 2027. The announcement locks in a new three-year commitment that will bring the festival back to the region for 2027, 2028, and 2029.
For Rio Linda and Elverta residents, Discovery Park is just a straight shot down Rio Linda Boulevard or a quick jump onto I-5, making this a major regional event that hits incredibly close to home.
Mark Your Calendars for 2027
After a planned two-year hiatus, the country music festival is locking down the weekend of October 15, 2027 for its big return.
While the exact daily schedules, ticket prices, and initial artist lineups won’t be made public until this coming October, the organizers are giving fans a chance to help shape the festival’s comeback. DWP is launching a series of fan surveys throughout the summer to gather input on what experiences, food, and attractions local attendees want to see.
Residents who participate in the surveys this summer will also get the first crack at early-bird ticket sales when they go online this Fall. You can sign up to participate on the GoldenSky Festival Website.
Why It Matters Beyond the Bubble
We often say around here that “we don’t live in a bubble,” and major events at Discovery Park are a prime example. GoldenSky—which previously brought massive names like Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, and Tim McGraw to the area—draws heavily from the northern Sacramento County communities.
For Rio Linda and Elverta locals, the return of GoldenSky means:
- No Long Road Trips: Instead of driving hours to Southern California or the Bay Area for a major multi-day country festival, a premier national event is happening less than 15 minutes away.
- Traffic & Access: As the festival grounds sit right at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers, locals planning to attend or commute near the area in mid-October should expect the usual regional traffic increases along the I-5 and Garden Highway corridors.
- The Aftershock Double-Header: GoldenSky will once again serve as the second half of DWP’s back-to-back festival weekends in October, immediately following the rock-focused Aftershock festival. Together, the events bring a massive footprint to the region, generating roughly $54 million in regional economic impact.
