RIO LINDA, CA — There is a specific kind of strength found in a small town—the kind that comes from knowing your neighbors and looking out for one another. In Rio Linda and Elverta, that spirit has a home base: the Rio Linda Elverta Neighborhood Association (RLENA).
If you’ve ever felt like the “big shots” downtown in Sacramento don’t quite hear what we’re saying out here, you aren’t alone. That’s exactly why this group exists. This Thursday, April 15, the association is pulling up a few extra chairs at the Youth Center, and they’re hoping you’ll fill one of them.
Getting Answers from the County
Sometimes, trying to get a straight answer from county government feels like running a marathon in circles. To help bridge that gap, Forrest Johnson will be attending tomorrow’s meeting. He’s coming on behalf of Rosario Rodriguez’s office specifically to listen to us and our questions.
Whether it’s a pothole that never gets fixed, questions about local parks, or just wanting to know what the county has planned for our neck of the woods, this is the time to ask. It’s not about formal speeches; it’s about a conversation between our community and the people who represent us.
Keeping Our Streets Safe
We all want a neighborhood where we feel safe taking a walk at dusk or letting the kids play out front. However, there’s been a lot of talk lately about budget cuts hitting the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The association is working hard to get a representative from the Sheriff’s Office to join the meeting. The goal is to have an honest talk about what these “looming cuts” actually mean for Rio Linda.
