RIO LINDA, CA — As the spring breeze settles over the Sacramento Valley, the Rio Linda Knights are gearing up for a pivotal mid-April stretch. From high-stakes conference baseball matchups to the grit of the Halden Invitational track meet, this week (April 13–18, 2026) promises to be a marathon of local athleticism.
Whether you are heading to the ballpark for a bag of seeds or hitting the road to support the volleyball squad, the Knights’ schedule is packed with opportunities to witness the “Black and Gold” in action.
Diamond Duel: Baseball & Softball Take on Sutter
The headline of the week is undoubtedly the multi-day clash with Sutter. The Knights’ Baseball team will see plenty of the Huskies, starting Monday at home under the lights.
- Monday, April 13: Home vs. Sutter (JV 4:00 PM / Varsity 6:30 PM)
- Wednesday, April 15: Away at Sutter (JV/V 4:15 PM)
- Friday, April 17: Away at Sutter (JV/V 4:15 PM)
On the Softball front, Tuesday evening will be the time to fill the bleachers at home as the girls take on Sutter at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. The competition remains fierce through Thursday as they travel to take on the Casa Roble Rams.
“There is no substitute for the energy of a home crowd during conference play,” says a local athletics booster. “These mid-April games often decide who carries the momentum into the postseason.”
Nets and Fairways: Volleyball, Tennis, and Golf
The Knights are racking up the miles this week as Volleyball hits the road for back-to-back away matches. Fans will need to travel to Grant on Monday and El Camino on Wednesday to catch the JV and Varsity squads in action.
Meanwhile, Tennis and Golf will take advantage of the home-court advantage early in the week:
- Tennis: Home Tuesday vs. Woodland (4:00 PM) before heading out for tournament play (Singles/Doubles) on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Golf: Home Tuesday vs. Natomas (3:00 PM) at the local links before traveling to Sutter on Thursday.
Making Waves and Breaking Records: Swim and Track
The aquatic Knights travel to Woodland on Thursday for a 4:00 PM Swim meet, a crucial timing as swimmers look to shave seconds off their personal bests for upcoming qualifying rounds.
The week culminates in one of the region’s most prestigious events: the 68th Annual Halden Invitational at Davis High School on Saturday, April 18. This meet is known for drawing the top talent in Northern California, and the Knights’ Track and Field team will be right in the thick of it starting at 11:00 AM.
