Rio Linda and Elverta residents can already vote in person at Sacramento County’s early-opening vote centers, with our local location at the Depot Building and Park, 6730 Front St., opening Saturday, Oct. 31.

The county opened 19 vote centers Saturday, Oct. 24, for the Nov. 3 general election. Additional locations, including Rio Linda’s, will open for the final four days of voting. Sacramento County voters may use any vote center within the county. Vote Center Locations and Hours

When to vote at the Depot

The Rio Linda vote center will operate on this schedule:

Dates Hours
Saturday, Oct. 31–Monday, Nov. 2 8 a.m.–4 p.m. daily
Tuesday, Nov. 3 — Election Day 7 a.m.–8 p.m.

The county lists the location as Depot Building and Park, 6730 Front St. Residents planning to vote elsewhere should check that location’s hours before leaving home, because schedules vary before Election Day. Vote Center Locations and Hours

At a vote center, eligible Sacramento County residents can register to vote, request a replacement ballot, vote in person or use an accessible ballot-marking device.

Missing the regular registration deadline does not mean missing the election. Eligible residents can complete California’s conditional, or same-day, voter registration process at a vote center or county elections office through Election Day. Those ballots are counted after election officials verify eligibility. sos.ca.gov

Returning your mail ballot

Residents who already have their ballots can return them at an official ballot drop box or vote center, or mail them using the pink postage-paid return envelope supplied with the ballot.

Remember to sign the return envelope. Election officials use that signature to verify the ballot.

Drop-box access hours vary by location. Check the county’s official ballot drop-box directory before making the trip.

Ballots delivered in person must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and, according to the county announcement, received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The California secretary of state recommends mailing ballots early. Anyone mailing a ballot on Election Day should take it inside a post office and ask a postal employee for a manual postmark. sos.ca.gov
