Rio Linda High School graduate Riley Bain will be recognized on a national stage Saturday, Oct. 24, when he receives the American FFA Degree at the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.
The American FFA Degree is the highest degree members can earn through the National FFA Organization, recognizing years of achievement in agricultural education, career development, leadership and community service. National FFA Organization
For Bain, a member of the Rio Linda FFA chapter and a 2024 Rio Linda High School graduate, the honor reflects a commitment to building a career in welding and fabrication.
After high school, Bain attended Sierra College while working part-time at Frontier Ag. He earned several welding certifications while gaining hands-on experience in the industry. In January 2026, Frontier Ag hired him full-time as a welder and fabricator.
His path from the classroom to a skilled trade illustrates the opportunities agricultural education can offer beyond farming, including the fabrication and repair work that helps agricultural businesses operate.
According to information provided by the chapter, fewer than 1% of FFA members achieve the American FFA Degree. Recipients must meet extensive requirements involving supervised agricultural experience, academic achievement, leadership and civic involvement, including at least 50 hours of community service.
The degree recognizes accomplishments in agricultural business, production, processing and service. Members can build their supervised experience through business ownership, employment or research.

For our community, Bain’s recognition celebrates a Rio Linda graduate who has continued his education, developed his trade skills and turned his FFA experience into a career.
