Rio Linda residents can support local veterans and their families at a fish fry on Saturday, Nov. 14, then return that evening to retire worn American flags with honor.

The Sons of the American Legion Haggin Grant Squadron 521 will serve dinner from 2 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 6700 8th St. in Rio Linda. Dinners are $25 and include fried fish with a choice of fries or onion rings, plus hush puppies and coleslaw.

All proceeds will benefit American Legion Post 521, local veterans and their families, according to the event flyer.

The U.S. flag retirement ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Organizers invite anyone with a faded, torn or tattered American flag to bring it and take part in the ceremony.
