Dry Creek Elementary School in Rio Linda is moving toward a proposed $5.5 million improvement project that would modernize its transitional kindergarten and kindergarten building, replace aging pavement and create a new bus drop-off area.

Twin Rivers Unified School District has opened a request for contractor qualifications and proposals for the work at the G Street campus. No contractor has been selected, and the district’s estimated budget is not a final construction price.

The project includes approximately $3 million in site improvements and $2.5 million to modernize the existing four-classroom TK/K building.

Classrooms, parking and accessibility

The proposed outdoor work includes replacing parking areas and hardcourts, creating a bus drop-off area and improving accessible routes around campus.

Plans also call for fencing and gates, lighting, landscaping, irrigation, electric vehicle chargers and accessible ramps.

Inside the existing TK/K building, planned improvements include restroom upgrades, new roofing and heating and air-conditioning systems. The work would update facilities serving some of the school’s youngest students while addressing infrastructure elsewhere on campus.

Although the solicitation is titled the “Transitional Kindergarten Expansion and Site Improvements Project,” the building work described includes modernization of an existing four-classroom facility.

Contractor selection is underway

The district is seeking qualifications and proposals under RFQ-P 27-003. A mandatory contractor pre-proposal meeting and site walk is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m.

Proposals are due Thursday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. The district lists a tentative recommendation for a contract award at the Dec. 8 Board of Trustees meeting.

Construction is targeted for June 7 through Aug. 13, 2027. Those dates remain a proposed schedule rather than a guarantee that work will begin or finish on those days.

Contractors and residents can review the district’s solicitation and supporting documents on SecureBids. Project procurement questions should be directed to [email protected].
