Get those costumes ready: Our community has several opportunities to celebrate Halloween this month, with trunk-or-treat events, a haunted house, a movie and an American Legion party.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up, starting with two events Friday, Oct. 23.
Friday, Oct. 23: Trunk or Treat at Calvary Lutheran Church
Calvary Lutheran Church will host a trunk-or-treat gathering from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in its parking lot at Fifth Avenue and L Street in Rio Linda.
The evening will also include a showing of “Hocus Pocus,” giving families a chance to enjoy a Halloween movie along with the festivities.
Friday, Oct. 23: Parks and Rec Trunk or Treat and Haunted House
The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District will host a free community trunk-or-treat event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the RLE Community Center, 810 Oak Lane.
The flyer promises costumes, candy and family fun, along with a haunted house at the Depot.
With both Friday events starting at 5:30 p.m., families have two local options for an early Halloween outing.
Thursday, Oct. 29: Jr. Knights Football and Cheer Trunk or Treat
Rio Linda Jr. Knights Football and Cheer and The Key Shop and More are teaming up for a free community trunk-or-treat event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 914 Oak Lane in Rio Linda.
Everyone is welcome, and organizers are also inviting community members to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy.
To register a trunk, email [email protected], or stop by The Key Shop to pick up a registration form.
Friday, Oct. 30: Halloween Party at the American Legion
The Rio Linda American Legion will host a Halloween party beginning at 6 p.m. at 6700 Eighth St.
The evening will feature karaoke, a potluck and a costume contest — a chance to bring something to share, show off a costume and warm up those singing voices before Halloween.
