Racing memories and the next generation of drivers will share the spotlight Sunday, Oct. 11, when the Capitol Quarter Midget Association celebrates its final race of the season in Rio Linda.
The day’s activities will include an End-of-Year Alumni Car Show & Demo and a 9 a.m. rededication ceremony for the Roy Hayer Park Quarter Midget Track, located at 800 G St. The ceremony announcement welcomes everyone to attend.
Together, the events offer our community an opportunity to celebrate the track, reconnect with former competitors and recognize young drivers moving on to their next chapter in racing.
Bringing alumni back to their roots
CQMA is inviting former quarter midget drivers from CQMA, AQMA, TVQMA, Good Times, Baylands and other regional clubs to return with their current race cars for a car show and on-track demonstration.
The invitation spans generations of regional racing—from historic bullrings to the Baylands days and the tracks in between. Organizers hope returning drivers will share their experiences with today’s young competitors while catching up with the community that supported their earliest laps.
For alumni, the gathering is a chance to revisit where their racing journeys began. For children currently competing, it offers a look at the paths former quarter midget drivers have taken as they advanced in the sport.
The season finale will also honor the young racers graduating to their next racing adventures.
Track rededication set for 9 a.m.
The Roy Hayer Park Quarter Midget Track rededication ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the event flyer. All are welcome.
The ceremony adds a celebration of the track itself to a day already focused on the people and memories that connect our local racing community.
Alumni interested in bringing a race car and participating in the show and demonstration are asked to RSVP by commenting on CQMA’s original event announcement.
