Rio Linda and Elverta residents will have an opportunity to walk Central Park and share ideas for its future during a public outreach tour Sunday, Oct. 11.

The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District is inviting our community to discuss site improvements at the Central Park Horse Arena, 820 Elkhorn Blvd. The walking tour runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and everyone is welcome.

The event is part of the district’s effort to rehabilitate and rejuvenate Central Park and its horse arena. According to the district’s project update, it has secured a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is pursuing additional funding through the California Statewide Park Program. rleparks.com

Community feedback is part of that process. The walking tour gives residents a chance to look at the property firsthand and share what they would like to see as the district develops plans for improvements.

The flyer’s aerial map identifies the existing horse arena, BMX track and parking area, with Dry Creek along the eastern side of the site and Roy Hayer Park nearby.

The flyer invites participants to share their vision for the Central Park Horse Arena but does not list a final package of improvements or a construction schedule.

The district also lists additional opportunities for public input: a presentation at a Rio Linda Elverta Neighborhood Association meeting Nov. 19 and a presentation at a Recreation and Park District meeting Dec. 9. Times and locations for those presentations are not provided in the project update. rleparks.com

For our neighbors who use the arena, visit the park or have ideas about its future, the Oct. 11 tour offers an opportunity to bring those suggestions directly into the planning conversation.
