North Highlands Residents Arrested in Nebraska Following I-80 Traffic Stop


AURORA, NE — Two residents from the Sacramento area, including one from North Highlands, remain in the legal spotlight following a significant narcotics and weapons seizure in Hamilton County, Nebraska.

The incident unfolded on eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 332. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a trooper initiated a stop on a Saturn SUV after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer reported a distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the interior, providing probable cause for a full search of the SUV.

Contraband Seized

The subsequent search by state troopers yielded a significant amount of illegal items, including:

  • 15 pounds of suspected marijuana
  • 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine
  • Two handguns
  • Various items of drug paraphernalia

Individuals Charged

The driver, identified as Alfred Stewart, 68, of North Highlands, California, was taken into custody and faces serious charges, including possession of marijuana (more than one pound) and possession of a firearm during a drug offense.

The passenger, Tamesa Stewart, 50, of Sacramento, California, was also arrested. Her charges include possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both individuals were transported and booked into the Hamilton County Jail following the roadside investigation.

The Nebraska State Patrol continues to monitor I-80 as a major corridor for interdiction efforts. This arrest highlights the ongoing coordination between state agencies to disrupt the transport of controlled substances and illegal firearms across state lines.
