PizzaPalooza! – A Double-Blind Taste Test for the Community

RIO LINDA, CA — It’s time to settle the debate on the best pizza in town, and the Rio Linda Elverta Chamber of Commerce is turning dinner into a “scientific experiment.”

On Friday, February 6th, the Chamber, in collaboration with the Rio Linda Grange and the Country Lions, will host Pizza Palooza at the Rio Linda Grange Hall (1315 G Street). Doors open at 6:00 PM.

This isn’t your average community dinner. As explained by the event’s charismatic (and delicious-looking) mascot, “Mario Pepperoni,” Pizza Palooza is a double-blind taste test.

“It’s simple,” says Mario, who has been seen around town sporting a giant pepperoni slice costume. “You won’t know what pizza you’re eating, and the restaurants won’t know they’re giving us the pizza for us to eat. So they don’t know, you don’t know, we don’t know until the very end.”

A “Romeo and Juliet” Pairing

Promoting the event alongside Mario is his culinary counterpart, “Valley Ranch” (a walking bottle of ranch dressing). While some purists argue that ranch and pizza don’t mix, Mario insists their bond is unbreakable.

“The cultural issues between me and Valley Ranch is very tricky… it’s very Romeo and Juliet,” Mario joked in a recent promotional video. “But we go together like peanut butter and jelly.”

Attendees can decide for themselves if the pairing works while enjoying the festivities.

The Best Deal in Town

Tickets for the event are priced at just $25. For that price, every attendee receives eight slices of pizza from eight different local pizzerias.

“To do this yourself, it would cost $200 to $250 to buy eight pizzas,” Mario noted. “If you do it with us, it’s only $25.”

Supporting Local Non-Profits

Proceeds from Pizza Palooza go directly to supporting vital community organizations:

  • The Rio Linda Grange: Known for their annual spring plant sale (which will feature trees this year).
  • The Rio Linda Elverta Chamber of Commerce: Working constantly to support local businesses and the community.
  • The Country Lions: A dedicated local group who focuses on teaching youth responsibility through raising animals.

Don’t miss your chance to be a food critic for the night, support local non-profits, and find out once and for all who makes the best pie in the area. As Mario Pepperoni warns, “Buy your tickets now to save your seat!”
